About LifeSpring

To meet the ever-increasing needs of the aging population, LifeSpring In-Home Care Network was launched in 2012. While new to the franchise industry in the senior care sector, the LifeSpring franchise represents a ground floor opportunity founded on a successful business model that has been operating for nearly 15 years in Norman, Oklahoma.

After numerous years spent working in the health care industry in corporate and consulting environments, as well as hands-on clinician work in area hospitals in Oklahoma, Karen Vahlberg established Lifecare Oklahoma Personal Services in 2003, which provided non-medical home care.

That same year, Karen started Lifecare Oklahoma, Inc., providing medical home health care. Karen believes in provision of service with integrity, including clinical excellence, ethical corporate values, and superior customer service. Lifecare Oklahoma provides skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, medical social work and personal care services covered by Medicare or private insurance, as well as private pay services, usually provided in shifts by certified home health aides or companions. In 2006, Lifecare Oklahoma added hospice services, working with terminally ill patients and their families to ease symptoms, provide comfort, and prepare for transition from this life.

 

Karen Vahlberg, RN, BSN
Manager and Chief Executive Officer

Founder Karen Vahlberg, RN, BSN, graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1981 and has worked in the home care arena as a field nurse, director, consultant, and administrator for over twenty years.

Karen is also the driving force and co-founder of LifeSpring In-Home Care Network franchise.

Karen Vahlberg has 27 years’ experience as a registered nurse in home care including the areas of hospice, home health, DME, infusion, and private duty. Starting as a case manager in the field, Karen has served as Administrator, Regional Director, and has owned and operating a consulting firm since 1997, and is a nationally recognized speaker for the industry. Karen is a certified CHAP consultant. Karen has owned and operated LifeSpring Home Care, consisting of 6 locations providing home health care, hospice care, and private pay care, since its inception in 2003. Karen has served over 17 years as a director for the Oklahoma Association for Home Care and Hospice, and is past president and current Secretary, and developed curriculum for and teaches Oklahoma’s Home Care Administrator Preparedness Program since 2007.

Along with a group of investors and consultants, Karen co-founded LifeSpring In-Home Care Network, LLC, as franchisor in 2012. LifeSpring currently has 9 active franchised locations and several more under development.

Ed StewartEd Stewart
Manager and Chief Information Officer

After thirty years' service to General Motors as local Webmaster, MSSQL Database Administrator, Server Administrator, IT consultant to Electronic Data Systems, and UAW administrative positions, Mr. Stewart continued his technology career authoring multiple custom web-based database applications for, among others, BiggerBytes Corporation (web-based computer component sales and service), Oklahoma One-Call System (Call Okie and Okie 811), ESE of Oklahoma (a multi-company organization with business in real estate, legal affairs, and personal finance), and Stillwater Companies (Florida real estate solution provider).

Mr. Stewart brings expertise in multiple platforms, scripting languages, operating systems and hardware, along with substantial business acumen to his role as Chief Information Officer for LifeSpring In-Home Care Network.

 

Juli Wallace
Chief Operating Officer

Juli has 35 years’ experience in healthcare with more than 20 years of experience with business startups. Her experience is primarily within Operations, Quality and Regulatory domains.

Juli has a Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma State University. She is a registered ASCP Medical Technologist and a Certified Home Health Administrator. Juli is also an Adjunct Instructor for Home Health Administrator’s Certification courses.

  • Maintain weekly contact with franchisees
  • Facilitate and organize franchisee performance through weekly and monthly meetings and data collection

 

Robert J. VahlbergRobert J. Vahlberg, MBA 
Chief Marketing Officer

Bob Vahlberg has served as LifeSpring’s Chief Marketing Officer since its inception in March 2012. Bob holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in business administration. Bob has eleven years’ experience in hospital administration, serving as Vice President of Business Development for Norman Regional Hospital in Oklahoma from 1986 to 1997 and was also a Chief Executive Officer in the biochemical engineering and construction industries from 1997 to 2001. He owned and operated a millwork manufacturing company from 2001 to 2009, and has served as Principal Consultant for Healthcare Management Solutions, Inc. since 2009. Bob also has experience as an Adjunct Professor teaching healthcare marketing in the MBA program at Oklahoma City University and is currently an instructor for the Oklahoma Home Care Administrator Preparedness course. Bob is an Oklahoma certified home care administrator, and brings expertise in financial and market analysis and development and business strategy.

 

Pam Campbell Crawford
Marketing Support

Pam has over 25 years’ experience in healthcare and healthcare marketing. Pam joined the parent company nearly 15 years ago as its first full time marketer. 

Pam received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Oklahoma City Community College in 1985 and practiced as a Registered Nurse for eight years in the areas of Critical Care, Chemical Dependency and Home Health.

  • Trains and supports franchisee marketers
  • Conducts on-site training for franchisee marketing efforts
  • Delivers monthly marketing trainings specific to franchisee goals
  • Develops marketing material
  • Manages Marketing Portal

 

Pauline Roberts, BSN
Clinical Support

Pauline has been a registered nurse for 35 years with diverse experience in healthcare management which includes home health, hospice, private duty and home infusion. She has held positions of Case Manager, Director of Nursing, Administrator, Regional Director and Consultant. In addition, Pauline previously worked at HealthWyse as a Clinical Application Training Specialist where she was highly involved in the implementation of systems for new customers and also developed a Boot Camp Training Program for existing customers seeking to optimize clinical and business processes with the advanced use of their software applications.

Pauline has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Nursing Informatics. She is eager to use this new knowledge of how technology, information and evidence based practice can improve processes and practice in home care.

 

Allison Richey
Online Learning Manager/Curriculum Designer

Allison has 25 years’ experience in nursing and education. Her experience involves educational administration, nursing education, and curriculum design.

Allison has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. She also teaches a Nursing Jurisprudence course and develops nursing curriculum.

  • Manages Lifespring University including site design/organization, user accounts, and training records
  • Develops courses and provide access to colleagues
  • Offers first line support, and liaise with colleagues to resolve any technical issues

 

Ginger Ramsey
Executive Assistant

Ginger has 6 years’ experience in all home care support functions: from assisting with regulatory requirements such as state license and Medicare filings, maintenance of personnel requirements, medical records management, supply chain management, event planning, document management, and accounts receivable and accounts payable management. She has a broad understanding of operational needs of all types of home care agencies. Ginger studied sign language in college and is an exceptional communicator and possesses exceptional organizational skills. Ginger can assist with any needs of the agency.
